Waterbury, Connecticut-based Webster Bank will provide online check images for consumers and small businesses on its web site.
Online check images allow customers to view images of the front and back of checks and deposit slips. Previously, online users could only view the number of a check that cleared, but Webster said the new technology will enable customers to monitor and confirm every stage of the check transaction.
Online check imaging improves a customer’s ability to monitor and verify transactions, making it easier to balance accounts and conduct both traditional and online banking, said John Spear, senior vice president for retail development at the Bank.
