Belgian bank VDK Spaarbank has agreed to distribute Vasco Data Security International's Digipass 810 smart card reader to all of its online users, enabling the bank's e-banking and e-commerce customers to use the device in conjunction with the VDK debit smart card.
The Digipass 810, or VDK-Card Reader as the product has been named by VDK Spaarbank, is an unconnected personal card reader designed for non-face-to-face strong authentication in internet banking.
As well as distributing the card reader to its e-banking customers, VDK Spaarbank’s e-commerce customers will also be able to use the device. VDK Spaarbank is among the pioneer banks participating in Banksys, an e-commerce project that allows payment by debit smart cards for online purchases. To pay online, a customer needs their debit card, the card number and expiration date, and their Digipass to identify themselves.
