San Francisco-based Union Bank, a financial holding company, has promoted Bita Ardalan, currently executive vice president as head of the national specialized lending group.

Ardalan, based in Los Angeles, will report to the head of commercial banking, senior executive vice president Robert Dawson.

In her new role, Ardalan will oversee the sales, marketing and credit management of several of the bank’s growing national growth specialties including commercial finance, environmental industries and fund finance, that underwrites the needs of sponsored investment funds including bridge capital and subscription facilities.

Her group will also be responsible for the geographic expansion of commercial banking and the identification and development of new high-potential niches for the bank.

The bank said that the group will provides financial expertise to corporate clients including debt financing, depository and cash management, global trade, foreign currency exposure, interest rate management and private banking.

Ardalan has been with Union Bank since 986 when she joined the management training program. Over the years she has held various management positions including most recently as an executive vice president overseeing commercial banking for the Greater Los Angeles division.

Union Bank senior executive vice president Robert Dawson said Bita’s 24 years of commercial banking experience, strong leadership, and expertise in specialized financing and strategic planning, will help the bank identify and develop new client niches and expand specialized lending business as part of overall strategic growth goals.
