Italian financial services firm UniCredit has appointed Federico Ghizzoni as its deputy CEO and deputy general manager.

Mr Ghizzoni will be responsible for the group’s Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) divisionalization program and CEE banking operations.

Mr Ghizzoni has a 30 years long career in the group, with assignments of increasing responsibility in Italy and abroad, specifically in the UK, Singapore, Poland, Turkey and Austria, and most recently as responsible for the CEE business of the group.

Alessandro Profumo, CEO of UniCredit, said: “Federico has strong managerial capabilities and a deep knowledge of the individual markets, thanks to his experience both in Italy and internationally. His appointment is also testimony of the strategic role played by CEE as an engine of growth for UniCredit.”

With this appointment, UniCredit’s deputy CEO team will be composed by: Sergio Ermotti, CIB & PB strategic business area; Paolo Fiorentino, GBS strategic business area; Federico Ghizzoni, CEE divisionalization program & CEE banking operations; and Roberto Nicastro, families and SME strategic business area.
