According to research conducted by Alliance & Leicester, a third of UK customers want to pay bills online.

The study shows a 63% rise in people managing their current accounts online since 2003, while over three quarters of Alliance & Leicester Current Account holders now do most or all of their banking online, compared with just 39% two years ago.

Other interesting statistics revealed that seven in ten internet bankers prefer checking their statements online, a figure backed up by the 15% of Briton’s who wish they didn’t receive paper statements for accounts which have already been paid, and 9% saying they receive too many paper-based bills.

Helen Palmer, manager of Current Accounts at Alliance & Leicester, said, ‘With our busy lifestyles, internet banking is more convenient for many people than traditional branch banking.
