TruWest Credit Union, an Arizona-based credit union, has launched Choice Checking Account for customers looking for rewards, discounts and other value-added features.

TruWest’s choice checking is a free account that starts with all the basics that a person needs in a checking account, including surcharge-free ATM access to more than 28,000 ATMs nationwide through CO-OP Network, one overdraft fee forgiveness per calendar year, monthly dividends, as well as online banking and bill payment.

Then TruWest members can choose to add additional value-added packages to fit their specific needs. With this packages consumers will have the power to decide what they want and what they do not. If members change their mind about the package they added, they can opt out and find another one that suits their needs.

TruWest is offering six different packages to customize an account with and members can add as many or as few as they’d like. The packages include options for monthly credit reports with scores from all three credit bureaus, restaurant and shopping discounts, cash back on debit card purchases, complimentary companion airfare and other travel discounts, fraud protection and identity theft insurance, as well as a package that eliminates the fee for all money orders, cashier’s checks and travelers cheques.

Mara Friedman, vice president of marketing at TruWest, said: “As part of our TruDifference, we wanted to create an experience with our choice checking account. We designed choice checking to be an account for all consumers – from the people who just want a basic, no-frills free checking account, to those who are looking for rewards, discounts and other value-added features.”
