Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking has appointed Michel Payan as head of coverage and investment banking for the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region (CEEMEA), a newly created position based in Paris.

In his new role, Mr Payan will further develop and co-ordinate the client business of the bank for the region, drive forward the investment banking strategy and oversee coverage and investment banking teams dedicated to the region.

Mr Payan will report both to Thierry Aulagnon, head of coverage and investment banking9 and to Slawomir Krupa, CEO of the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region for Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking.

Mr Payan has held the role of global head of merger and acquisitions within Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking since 2006.

Additionally, Thierry d’Argent, currently managing director and member of the mergers and acquisitions executive committee, will succeed Mr Payan as global head of merger and acquisitions (M&A). He will report to Thierry Aulagnon.

Thierry d’Argent joined Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking in 2009, as managing director and member of the M&A executive committee. Previously, he was managing director at JP Morgan, member of the JP Morgan’s European advisory leadership core team and of the firm’s management committee in France.
