Nigerian finance group Skye Bank has launched two new credit cards, Nigeria's Guardian newspaper has reported.

According to the newspaper, the scheme was developed by e-Channels Group, a unit of the bank, and targets both customers and non-customers who have a regular income.

The new cards come in classic and premium variants. The Skyecard classic card is designed for low-income earners and carries the benefits of a debit card, while the premium card is targeted at a wider market, differentiated by income bracket and credit profile, taking into account income, employment structure and credit history, among other things.

Furthermore, the products provide both secured and unsecured finance for the cardholders, This Day reported.

The scheme is expected to receive full support from the country’s government and central bank.
