Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has made a series of senior appointments to its team in Korea. Sean Cho has been hired as head of investment banking. He will be based in Seoul and will report to John Mullins, regional head of banking in Asia Pacific.

Mr Cho brings with him 11 years of experience in investment banking. Prior to joining RBS, he Cho spent three years at Macquarie Securities in Korea where he was a managing director responsible for corporate finance. During his time at Macquarie, Mr Cho participated in numerous deals across M&A, advisory, debt and equity capital markets.

In addition, Jae Hee Lee, currently head of FI debt capital markets (DCM) for Korea, takes on an expanded role as head of corporate and FI DCM in Korea.

Both Mr Cho and Mr Lee will work closely together to deliver the bank’s wholesale banking product and advisory capabilities in Korea.

In recent months, RBS has been actively building its business in Korea. Recent hires include Inseok Cha, who joined as head of corporate risk solutions for Korea, together with his team from Barclays Capital.

Mr Mullins said: “Korea is a key market for RBS in the region. The appointment of Sean Cho along with JH Lee’s expanded role is an important step as we deepen our presence in the market. We will make further hires in Korea as we grow our business in the region.”
