UK banking giant HBOS has signed an agreement with RAC that will see the motoring assistance group provide rescue services to over eight million HBOS customers free of charge.

Under the terms of the deal, HBOS current account holders will automatically receive an RAC membership if they sign up to an ultimate reward package.

This is the first time the high street bank has appointed a vehicle breakdown company to provide its current account customers with roadside assistance. The three-year contract also sees RAC managing its first bank account partnership in the added value account sector.

Abu Shafi, director of corporate partnerships for RAC, said: This new added value partnership with HBOS represents a fantastic win for RAC and helps us establish a strong presence in the banking sector.
