Pimco, a US-based investment management firm, has appointed Maria Gordon as an executive vice president and emerging market equity portfolio manager. She will join in October in the London office and will lead its emerging markets equity team.

Ms Gordon has over 12 years of investment management experience. Prior to joining Pimco, she was a managing director, portfolio manager and head of global emerging markets equity strategy at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Earlier in her career, she was a research analyst covering telecom, consumer and resource stocks in EMEA and LATAM regions for the emerging markets equity strategy at Goldman Sachs.

PIMCO also announced that it has hired recently five other senior equity investment professionals as part of the ongoing build-out of its active equity platform.

Pimco plans to launch several active equity strategies in the next couple of years.
