Nomura India hires new head for equity capital markets

Nomura has appointed Indraneil Borkakoty as new head of Equity Capital Markets (ECM), India.

Borkakoty will report to Nipun Goel, head of investment banking for India, and Mark Williams, head of ECM for Asia ex-Japan.

Indraneil will join Nomura with 15 years of experience in equity capital markets. Proir to this position he was with Kotak Mahindra Capital as head of ECM. Prior to that he worked at ICICI Securities, KPMG and Lazard.

Williams said that this appointment is crucial to the company’s strategy of building the leading ECM franchise in Asia.

“India accounted for 16% of the total ECM volume in Asia ex-Japan in the first half of this year and is an important market for our ECM business,” Williams said.
