Nomura Holding America has appointed Heather Wingate as managing director of public affairs to lead the company's government affairs efforts in the US.

Ms Wingate will report to David Findlay, senior managing director and chief legal officer in New York, and will work closely with the firm’s headquarters in Tokyo.

Ms Wingate joins Nomura from Citi where she was managing director and head of federal government affairs since 2003. Prior to joining Citi, she was special assistant to the president for legislative affairs from July 2001 through February 2003. In addition to her executive branch experience, she also has extensive Capitol Hill experience, including as chief of staff to senator Sam Brownback.
