Nomura has appointed Sandeep Singh as new managing director, head of Telecoms, Media and Technology (TMT) for Asia ex-Japan, and Shubham Majumder as executive director, head of TMT for India.

Singh will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Patrick Schmitz-Morkramer, head of Asia ex-Japan investment banking, and Bertrand Kan, global head of TMT.

Singh will join Nomura from Citigroup Investment Banking in Hong Kong with over a decade of experience in the TMT sector. He worked on various capital markets, leveraged finance and M&A transactions across key markets including China, India, Hong Kong, Korea and South East Asia.

Mr Majumder will report to Nipun Goel, head of Investment Banking for India locally, and to Sandeep Singh regionally.

Majumder will join with over a decade of experience as a lead analyst on Indian equities focusing on telecom services, media and entertainment, IT services, etc. Majumder was most recently Asia Pacific head of telecom research with Macquarie Capital Securities based in India.

Nomura Asia ex-Japan Investment Banking head Patrick Schmitz-Morkramer said that the appointments of Sandeep and Shubham provide the team with additional leadership and industry experience, which will help deepen the client coverage in the sector.
