Nomura, a Japan-based investment banking firm, has appointed Eng Chien Chan as managing director, head of Corporate Sales and Risk Solutions Group for Asia ex-Japan.

Mr Chan will lead the newly-combined sales and marketing platform that provides event-driven and tactical risk management strategies to corporate clients in the region.

Based in Hong Kong, Mr Chan will manage over 30 professionals covering clients across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea and Australia. He will report to Samir Bhandari, co-head of fixed income sales for Asia ex-Japan, and Patrick Schmitz-Morkramer, head of investment banking for Asia ex-Japan.

Earlier, Mr Chan was head of fixed-income sales for Southeast Asia and India at Credit Suisse. Prior to that, he worked at Citigroup from 1998 to 2006, holding various roles including head of sales and structuring, China.

Jai Rajpal, head of fixed income for Asia ex-Japan at at Nomura, said: “Eng Chien has achieved significant successes in sales and structuring across fixed-income asset classes. In this role, he will work with Nomura’s existing product offering in FX, credit, rates and commodities to enhance our ability to provide complete, bespoke solutions to our corporate clients.”
