NetSpend, a provider of prepaid debit cards and other alternative financial services solutions to underbanked consumers in the US, has appointed Chuck Harris as its new president.

Mr Harris will report directly to CEO Dan Henry and have responsibility for the partner, direct and corporate paycard lines of business as well as the company’s customer service operations.

Mr Harris joins NetSpend from Intuit where he served as general manager of the company’s payment solutions division. He will relocate from Los Angeles to Austin and will be based at NetSpend’s corporate headquarters.

Before his role at Intuit, Mr Harris served as CEO, president and COO of Electronic Clearing House (ECHO), an electronic payment solutions provider that was acquired by Intuit in 2007. Prior to ECHO, he was president of Merchant Link, a subsidiary of Paymentech.

Earlier in his career, Mr Harris held several additional roles at Paymentech including group executive of client relations as well as leading the company’s strategic partnership initiatives.

Mr Henry said: “Chuck is a 20-plus year veteran of the payments industry and brings a unique skill set and background to NetSpend. His depth of experience will elevate our ability to bring accessible and affordable financial services to the 60 million underbanked consumers in this country. I welcome Chuck to NetSpend and look forward to working with him.”
