National City, a bank which is engaged in deposits, mortgages and home equity lines of credit, has announced that Dale Roskom has been appointed executive vice president and chief risk officer of the company.

Mr Roskom replaces executive vice president and chief risk officer Jim Bell, who has elected to leave National City following a 25-year career with the company.

In his new role, Mr Roskom will assume oversight of National City’s corporate-wide risk management system and also will serve as chairman of the Corporate Credit Policy Committee and the Enterprise Risk Committee.

Mr Roskom joined the company in December 2006 as executive vice president of the bank. Since coming to National City, he has provided leadership in developing commercial banking management tools, treasury management strategies, and technology improvements for the mortgage and home equity businesses.

Prior to joining National City, Roskom served as chief risk officer of Barclaycard UK. He also has served as finance director of Barclaycard’s global businesses.

Peter Raskind, president and CEO of National City, said: Managing corporate risk is an area of strategic importance for National City, and Dale’s extensive background and experience in managing credit and operational risk make him well suited for these new responsibilities.
