Account holders with National Bank of Bahrain will soon be able to access their money virtually anywhere in the world thanks to a new alliance the Middle Eastern bank has struck with global payments company MasterCard.
NBB and MasterCard have launched a co-branded debit card which will soon be rolled out to 250,000 of the bank’s customers.
The NBB MasterCard Debit Card enables customers to access their own funds from anywhere MasterCard is accepted, providing NBB account holders with greater flexibility and convenience than they previously had with their ATM only debit card.
The new cards will be phased in over time, with the first round of shipments starting in the coming weeks.
We are pleased to announce our alliance with MasterCard and provide worldwide banking services to the largest customer base in Bahrain, AME Info reports NBB deputy general manager Abdulrahman Abdullah Mohammed as saying.
While Denzil Lawson of MasterCard’s Middle East and North Africa operation commented: MasterCard is delighted to have worked closely with National Bank of Bahrain in developing this globally accepted debit card, which will be the first MasterCard-branded debit card issued in Bahrain.
