British remittance company Mobile Union has launched UK-to-Nepal mobile money service, known as mtxpress Nepal.

Mobile Union launched this service in association with Laxmi Bank, a provider of banking services in Nepal, and United Remit, a business unit of the Chaudhary Group and a retail remittance operator in Nepal.

Mobile Union provides web/mobile telephony driven remittance services.

Mobile Union remittance system is known as mtxpress, which was launched online in March 2010 on the UK to Bangladesh corridor.

Mobile Union mtxpress CEO Randall Harper said that the company’s service is great value for non-resident Nepalese living in the UK especially for those sending smaller sums.

“With our global technology platform, and working in tandem with Laxmi Bank and United Remit, this means that money is available in seconds at the heart of rural communities across Nepal. With Transaction Fees starting at £2 to send as little as £20, our objective is to establish mtxpress as the provider of choice for people to send money home to Nepal,” Harper said.
