Maybank Islamic, the Islamic banking subsidiary of Maybank, has launched the Ikhwan Card, its new Islamic credit card series. The cards will carry either the international cards franchise of American Express or Visa International.

Maybank Islamic has said that the new Ikhwan Card series is offered in platinum or gold.

Ikhwan is similar to other Maybank credit cards implementing chip-based technology for security, worldwide acceptance, anywhere and anytime payment convenience for a range of facilities and services. It is therefore available to both Muslims and non-Muslims alike, the company said.

Abdul Omar, president and CEO of Maybank, said: The Ikhwan card is another milestone for Maybank Islamic, as it will be the first bank worldwide to introduce the Islamic card bearing the American Express logo. Its affiliation with strong international card brands reinforces Maybank’s leadership in Islamic banking as well as credit cards in Malaysia. In addition, they underscore Malaysia’s status as a progressive and dynamic Islamic banking.
