Mashreq, an UAE-based financial institution, has expanded its debt counselling service ‘Mashreq Assist’, to Abu Dhabi.

The facility, located within Mashreq’s Al Mushrif branch will provide individuals, SME’s and businesses within the emirate, where the customers will get specialist debt counseling advice regarding their outstanding borrowings and offering restructuring solutions.

Over the course of the last 12 months, Mashreq has opened four branches in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, bringing the total number of branches in these emirates to 16.

Douglas Beckett, head of retail banking at Mashreq, said: “The expansion of Mashreq Assist to Abu Dhabi comes from our vision to be more accessible and convenient for all our customers. The overwhelming response received from the initial launch of the service in Dubai has encouraged us to take it further and to reach out to the capital. Through the expansion of ‘Mashreq Assist’ we are inviting individuals and businesses that are facing difficulties to come to us and discuss their problems in an open and transparent manner.”

Niranjan Mendonca, head of retail assets at Mashreq, said: “Based on customer interaction and feedback we found it necessary to offer easy access to ‘Mashreq Assist’ services for our customers in Abu Dhabi. We sincerely hope that residents of Abu Dhabi will take full advantage of our debt counseling service, should it be required.”
