Malauzai, which offers mobile banking SmartApps, has rolled out SmarText capability which provides registered users with access to account balances and recent transaction history without having to perform a traditional login on the mobile application.

The solution launcher said that the functionality is being used by Lubbock, Texas-based City Bank Texas, US.

The firm said that it launched the application after receiving information that logging has emerged as one of the most challenging tasks in mobile banking, mostly due to mis-typed information.

The SmartApp usage data also found that 76% of mobile banking sessions were short, during which users can only check their balance and transaction history.

City Bank Texas witnessed that login hurdle is affecting successful sign in rates; subsequently it adopted Malauzai’s SmarText application to make the features easily accessible to the bank’s customers.

Since its deployment, 16% of City Bank Texas’ mobile banking customers have activated the feature and SmarText represents 20% of all daily logins and incidents of login failures have slashed almost 5%.

City Bank Texas senior vice president and CTO Jim Simpson said having hands-on, real-time access to the bank’s mobile application usage data is invaluable for City Bank.

"We were able to directly address a customer challenge, and the result was strong adoption of the new offering, along with increased use of our mobile banking app. Creating convenience while maintaining tight security is a win for the bank and its customers, and SmarText delivers just that," Simpson added.
