JP Morgan has expanded its investment banking business by establishing Energy Investment Banking in Calgary, Canada and hired David Harrison to head the energy franchise.

Mr Harrison will report to Adam Howard, senior country officer and head of Canadian investment banking and Vean Gregg, head of North American oil and gas investment banking.

Mr Harrison was previously head of energy investment banking at UBS Securities Canada, where he worked since 1995. He was responsible for a range of sectors, including oil and gas, power and pipelines, chemicals and forestry.

Recently, the firm also hired Geoff Cohen as an executive director covering Canadian metals and mining investment banking to further expand bank’s capabilities in Canada.
