Jefferies Group, a US-based securities and investment banking firm, has appointed Paul Viviano as head of US event driven sales within the firm's broader equities group.

In his new role, Mr Viviano will be responsible for directing the sales of US equities involved in mergers and acquisitions, distressed and other special situations related to corporate transactions and restructurings.

Mr Viviano has more than 17 years of experience and joined the firm from Morgan Stanley, where he spent four years and was most recently co-head of special situations. Previously, he held sales-trading roles on risk arbitrage desks at Bear Stearns and Goldman Sachs.
