Jefferies, a US-based securities and investment banking firm, has appointed Samantha Wessels as managing director and senior credit analyst to further expand the firm’s global credit sales and trading business.

Ms Wessels will be based in London and will work closely with Tom Jenkins, who joined Jefferies in March 2010 as a senior credit analyst from RBS.

Ms Wessels has over 14 years of industry experience, most recently at BlueRay Asset Management, where she was a credit analyst for distressed credit. Previously, she was a senior vice president at Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin in Washington, DC and London, where she spent 11 years.

In a joint statement, Tim Cronin, global head of Jefferies’ fixed income group, and Jon Pliner, head of Jefferies’ European credit sales and trading, said: “We are pleased to welcome Samantha Wessels to Jefferies. Her significant experience in credit analysis, financial advisory and restructuring will add immediate value to Jefferies’ efforts to serve institutional clients globally.”
