Ithmaar Bank, a Bahrain-based retail-focused Islamic bank, has launched mobile online banking service in the country to allow its customers to use their smart mobile phones to conduct, in real time, the full range of banking transactions.

Ithmaar’s other e-banking solutions include online banking, a web-based electronic banking (e-banking) portal, SMS banking, two-way (push and pull) SMS service, phone banking, which allows customers to conduct transactions through an automated telephone service, and ATM that accept cash deposits in real time.

In addition, the bank has also launched new corporate website which is designed to allow retail customers to explore the range of sharia-compliant products and services and to conduct all the required banking transactions through web portal.

Mohammed Janahi, retail banking assistant general manager at Ithmaar Bank, said: “The mobile online banking service is identical to our web-based e-banking portal, but was specifically designed, from the ground up, for use through smart mobile phones.

“The entire service, for example, features navigation screens that were specifically designed for use with smart mobile phones. All graphics, animations and other data-heavy features have also been eliminated to keep the amount of information that needs to be transferred, and subsequently the cost to users, to a bare minimum.”
