Setefi, an electronic payments service provider and part of Italy based Intesa Sanpaolo banking group has joined the French circuit ‘Cartes Bancaires’, which will boost its global competitiveness in payment processing industry.

This strategic decision will enable ‘Made in Italy’ brands trading in France with Setefi POS terminals, to accept payments using the ‘Cartes Bancaires’ circuit.

Setefi managing director and general manager Maurizio Manzotti said, "Membership of France’s leading payment system is strategic in increasing the competitiveness of our product on the French market, which we follow with great interest given its enormous development potential."

During 2012, the French payment system which handled transactions for more than €480bn, had over 60 million cards in circulation across the globe.

Intended to serve French denizens travelling Italy, the service will offer convenient and secure payment channel at stores using Setefi POS terminals.

Already managing its own POS terminals in France, Spain and Switzerland for over a year, the company is planning to expand to Portugal, the UK, Greece, the Netherlands, Austria and Germany in the future.

Managing 300,000 POS terminals and over 12 million payment cards issued by the Intesa Sanpaolo, Setefi offers services to merchants as a single partner for all phases of the POS collection process.
