Ingenico UK and US-based Nexus Software have developed a chip and PIN-based system for used in retail bank branch transactions, by-passing the need for the customer to present ID at the counter.

The security software combines Ingenico PIN pads with an XFS-compliant extension of Nexus’s Involve software which will enable in-branch chip and PIN verification, Finextra has reported.

Nick Parsons, managing director, Ingenico – Northern Europe, said: With the UK population now successfully migrated to buying goods and services from retailers with their PIN enabled cards, it makes perfect sense for banks to embrace this experience to simplify the customer verification process at their branches.
