Greenhill & Co, an independent investment bank, has appointed Mark Bentley as new managing director based in London.

Bentley will focus at Greenhill on advising major European companies on mergers and acquisitions in the energy sector.

Bentley has 24 years of experience in advising companies in energy, utilities and resource businesses. He will join the Greenhill & Co from CQS, a London-based investment firm which he joined in 2007 to focus on the energy sector.

He worked at HSBC for 11 years in Investment Banking, most recently as co-global head of the Resources and Energy group. His prior investment banking experience included roles at JP Morgan Chase, Lehman Brothers and BZW.

Greenhill & Co CEO Scott Bok said that this important addition further strengthens Greenhill’s industry sector and geographic coverage and complements the several partners the company have in place in North America, Europe and Australia focused on various segments of the energy business.
