First Michigan Bank Appoints New MD For Commercial Banking

First Michigan Bank has named Thomas Shafer as its new executive managing director for commercial banking, effective immediately.

Mr Shafer has been employed by Citizens Republic Bancorp since 1994. He held the position of executive vice president fro specialty banking; executive vice president for regional banking; regional president for East Michigan; president for Southeast Michigan; and executive vice president for commercial banking and chief credit officer. He also worked at Michigan National Bank in various commercial assignments.

Mr Shafer is active on the Detroit Regional Chamber Board and the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition and is a member of the executive committee and governance committee of Detroit Public Television.
