East West Bancorp, parent company of East West Bank, the financial bridge between the US and China, has named Tak-Chuen Clarence Kwan to its board of directors.

Kwan has also been appointed to the board of directors of East West Bank, and will oversee the management of both firms.

Prior to this, Kwan was working with the Chinese Services Group of Deloitte and had retired as senior partner of the firm.

In 1978, he joined Deloitte and various leading positions such as national managing partner of the Chinese Services Group of Deloitte US and national managing partner and deputy CEO of Deloitte China.

Kwan has more than 30 years of diversified experience of financial industry including on cross-border investment, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other direct foreign investments.

East West chairman and chief executive officer Dominic Ng said, "Clarence brings to our Board a deep and diverse understanding of international business and has multi-industry experience, particularly in the U.S. and in China."

With operations in over 130 locations globally, East West is focused exclusively on the US and China markets.
