Diebold has installed software that will soon enable banking customers in Costa Rica to access home banking site functionality at ATMs.

Diebold’s first installation of its Agilis Power Extensions software in the region will allow customers at BAC I Credomatic to use ATMs to view account statements, obtain account balances, and make credit card, loan and other bill payments that post in real-time – all with or without the use of a card.

Initially, Credomatic will introduce the e-banking channel technology to 30 to 40 in-branch ATMs, with plans to expand to select locations in Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua over the next six to eight months.

15% to 20% of transactions conducted by customers at BAC I Credomatic branches are card and bill payments, said David McCrea, head of electronic distribution channels at BAC I Credomatic Network. Our goal is to drive those traditional transactions to the electronic channels.
