Deutsche Bank has appointed Henry Cai as new chairman of Corporate Finance, Asia and head of the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB), China, effective October 4, 2010.

Mr Cai will join Deutsche Bank’s Asia Pacific executive committee and will be based in Hong Kong. He will be reporting to Robert Rankin, CEO of Deutsche Bank Asia Pacific.

Mr Cai had previously been the chairman of investment banking, Asia at UBS, which he joined in early 2006. Prior to that he held various roles between 1996 – 2005 at Peregrine, including head of Asia investment banking at BNP Paribas Peregrine.

Mr Rankin said: “Henry played an important early role in the development of China’s capital markets and has been involved in many landmark China and international transactions. He is uniquely placed to take both our Asia corporate finance and China investment banking platform to the next level. We want to further leverage the leadership position in our markets business in Asia into increased overall market share.”
