Deutsche Bank has formed a new Asian equity strategy team and appointed Ajay Kapur as a managing director and head of Asian equity strategy.

Kapur will be responsible for building Deutsche Bank’s Asian equity strategy capabilities and research product offering. He will be based in Hong Kong and report locally to Guy Ashton, global head of company research.

Kapur will join Deutsche Bank from Mirae Asset Securities, where he was chief global and Asia strategist. He was chief investment officer at First Horse Capital, after working as Citigroup’s chief global equity strategist in New York and chief Asia equity strategist in Hong Kong.

Prior to this, Kapur was head of equity strategy at Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong.

Kapur will be joined by Priscilla Luk, who has been appointed as a director and Ritesh Samadhiya as vice president.

Luk will join from Mirae Asset Securities, where she covered global and Asian equity strategy. Prior to this, she was an equity strategist at hedge fund, First Horse Capital, and also worked as a global equity strategist and Asian equity strategist at Citigroup.

Samadhiya will join bank from Mirae Asset Securities, where he was an Asian equity strategist. He worked as an equity strategist with First Horse Capital and prior to this was part of Citigroup’s global equity strategy team.

Both Luk and Samadhiya will report to Kapur.
