Global investment and retail bank Deutsche Bank has appointed Christopher Burnham for the double role of managing director and vice chairman of Deutsche Asset Management, or DeAM, with effect from November 15, 2006.

Based in New York, Mr Burnham’s priority will be to report to Kevin Parker, global head of DeAM. His responsibilities will also entail developing key client relationships and undertaking a variety of special projects, as well as serving on the DeAM’s global operating committee.

Mr Burnham previously held the position of under-secretary general of United Nations, reporting to UN secretary general Kofi Annan. His employment with the global association of governments includes adopting the role to lead efforts in reforming the UN and creating the UN’s first ethics office.

Chris has exceptional experience and relationships in both the public and private sectors, said Mr Parker. During his distinguished career, he has proven himself to be a leader of tremendous ability and integrity, and he will be a valuable asset to our clients and business.

Prior to his position with the UN, Mr Burnham worked with the US Department of State serving as under secretary of state for management for Condoleezza Rice and assistant secretary of state for resource management and CFO of the state department for former secretary of state, General Colin Powell.
