European diversified finance group Credit Suisse is to expand its presence in south Asia by entering the Thai market through the opening of a representative office in Bangkok.

The new office, designed to introduce the company and its varied portfolio of financial products to Thai and international customers who are seeking to manage their assets and grow their wealth, will open on March 16.

Commenting on the decision to open the new representative office, Joachim Straehle, member of the executive board of Credit Suisse and Head Asia Pacific, said: Credit Suisse believes that Thailand offers a dynamic economic environment. The Asia Pacific region possesses strong growth potential for the financial services industry, and we regard the establishment of a presence in Thailand as a key milestone in the implementation of our strategic growth plan.

The new office will be Credit Suisse’s sixth representative office in Asia, following those in Beijing, Shanghai, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Taipei. Credit Suisse’s branches in Asia are located in Singapore and Hong Kong.
