Citigroup's Citibank arm in Malaysia has launched a cobranded credit card with local mobile service provider, Celcom.

In Malaysia, mobile phone penetration stands at more than 20 million. The Citibank Celcom credit card…gives our customers the freedom to speak longer while enjoying bigger cash rebates and accumulating reward points. This winning combination offers a definite savings advantage for our customers, who register high monthly mobile phone bills, said Piyush Gupta, Citigroup country officer for Malaysia.

Mr Gupta added: The co-brand credit card initiative between Citibank and Celcom is a synergistic and strategic business partnership that will allow both parties to expand into new market segments, establish a wider regional presence and offer substantial savings to our customers.

Targeted at both male and female mobile phone users, between 21 to 55 years of age with an annual income of RM18,000 and above, the Citibank Celcom credit card is claimed to be the only credit card in the local market that offers both cash rebates and rewards to mobile phone users.
