Citibank Malaysia has launched a mobile bill payment service as part of its initiative to cater to the increasingly time-sensitive and on-the-go lifestyles of customers.

Focusing on speed, innovation and security, the Citibank mobile bill payment allows customers to use their mobile phones to pay bills by simply deducting the amount owed from their credit cards. Customers are able to personalize their bill payment by assigning a key word or text to each bill they want paid. Furthermore, they can also choose to receive reminders when their bills are due for payment.

Citibank’s mobile bill payment is easy to use, very fast and very safe. This is our way of making it effortless and convenient for our customers to pay their bills, whenever and wherever they may be. They can pay their bills while at lunch, while shopping or at work. There is no time lost looking for parking, queuing or writing checks. We believe this service will help alleviate some aspects of our customers’ demanding lifestyles, said Roy Heong, Citibank’s head of consumer e-business.

Citibank expects the new service to attract up to 50,000 users within the next two years. At present, Citibank offers its customers in Malaysia the option to subscribe to Citi Alerts, which will notify them when large deposits or withdrawals are made into or from their accounts, when accounts are overdrawn, when specific checks are cleared or rejected and when there are unauthorized credit card transactions.

We are amply aware of the significance of mobile power. Mobility and connectivity gives us the power to manage and control our life, business and leisure more efficiently. By offering quality, reliable, on-the-go service through our mobile bill payment, we believe our Citibank credit card holders, as well as the public, will be confident and encouraged to use our services widely, saving on time and money, Mr Heong added.
