ZAO Citibank, a fully owned subsidiary of Citi in Russia, has launched Citi Mobile, a mobile version of internet banking allowing customers to use their mobile phones for banking operations, without any additional applications to be installed on the mobile.

ZAO Citibank said that Citi Mobile allows customers to check account balances, pay bills, transfer funds including a local currency transfer to another bank in Russia, open a time deposit, and obtain information on Citibank’s currency exchange rates.

ZAO Citibank claimed that the mobile platform operates on the basis of the security standards aimed at protecting confidential information when working on-line. All information is encrypted and transmitted via SSL-protocol. Moreover, the banking session automatically terminates if the client has not been active for more than five minutes.

Bhaskar Katta, head of retail banking at ZAO Citibank, said: “We are convinced that this new platform will benefit our customers through its functionality and the wide range of secure banking operations available to clients.”
