Citibank Korea, a South Korean subsidiary of US Citigroup, has launched new ATMs for wheelchair users in line with the country's "CD/ATM Standards for Persons with Disabilities".

The new service has been supplied by Chungho ComNet, and will first be installed and operated in three Citibank branches, including Citibank Korea’s headquarters in Da-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, and in two other branches.

The bank stated, "The first three ATMs will serve as part of a pilot test to see what further improvements can be made for persons with disabilities."

"The installment of these ATMs will gradually be extended to more branches so that all Citibank ATM users will have no difficulty using the bank’s services."

The wheelchair ATM enables customers to easily access the machine from both the front and side.

Citibank Korea deployed voice-guided services and screen-expansion services for the visually handicapped customers throughout its ATMs in 2010, as part of its efforts to service its physically challenged customers.

Headquartered in Manhattan, New York, Citibank manages over 200 million customer accounts and offers business in over 160 nations and jurisdictions, globally.

The bank caters consumers, corporations, governments and institutions with a range of financial products and services, such as consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, transaction services, and wealth management.
