The UK's Building Societies Association has appointed Paul Broadhead, deputy director-general of the Association of Home Information Pack Providers, to the position of head of mortgage policy of the association.

Mr Broadhead will head up the association’s new mortgage policy team and joins the Building Societies Association (BSA) in November 2008.

Mr Broadhead started his career with the Halifax Building Society carrying out a number of roles in the branch network across all product areas, as well as being a qualified mortgage adviser. Following relocation to the main head office site in 2000 he moved to the role of senior project manager – mortgages and the intermediary business to business mortgage application system. He also played a role in the implementation of the FSA mortgage regulation within Halifax in 2004.

Mr Broadhead was then seconded to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister as business change manager on the home information pack program where he had responsibility for stakeholder engagement as well as being chairman of the Central Stakeholder Group, the senior consultation board for industry leaders. Mr Broadhead was appointed as the deputy director-general of the Association of Home Information Pack Providers in March 2006.
