BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research has appointed David Woo as new head of global rates and currencies research.

In this role, Mr Woo will be responsible for forecasting the G10 currencies, as well as managing the firm’s regional interest rate research teams. Mr Woo, who will report to Candace Browning, head of BofA Merrill Lynch global research, will also serve as a member of the Research Executive Management Committee.

Mr Woo is joining BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research from Barclays Capital, where he served as head of global foreign exchange strategy for the past six years, and as head of global technical strategy for the past two years.

Before joining Barclays, Mr Woo spent four years at Citigroup as head of local markets strategy for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He began his career as an economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC.
