BNY Mellon has appointed Michael Schroeder as regional manager for broker-dealer services in Asia.

Based in Hong Kong, Mr Schroeder will be responsible for supporting the continued growth of the company’s broker-dealer services business across Asia focusing on collateral management and securities clearance.

Mr Schroeder has 20 years of experience in the securities industry including 16 years in broker-dealer services. He joined BNY Mellon’s New York office in 1993 and has primarily been involved in product development and product management throughout his tenure at the company.

Mr Schroeder played a lead role in the launch of the company’s global tri-party repo and collateral management service, and ongoing advancement of this platform.

Andrew Gordon, executive vice president for broker-dealer and alternative investment services for Asia-Pacific at BNY Mellon, said: “Demand for more efficient, risk-adverse and sophisticated collateral management and securities settlement is growing rapidly across both the developed and aspiring markets in the region. It is therefore vital that we continue to invest in and grow our local team to ensure that we set new standards for broker-dealer servicing in Asia, especially from an operational efficiency and risk perspective.”
