BNP Paribas Corporate and Investment Banking, a division of BNP Paribas, has appointed Vasilis Koutsaftis as the director of foreign exchange (FX) and interest rate structuring group in New York.

Mr Koutsaftis will focus on hedge fund, real money and corporate clients in the Americas. He will report to George Nunn, head of FX & IR structuring in the US.

Prior to BNP Paribas, Mr Koutsaftis spent three years as a structurer on JPMorgan’s FX options trading desk in NY and another three years on JPMorgan’s USD rates exotics desk.

Mr Nunn said: “BNP Paribas is already a top-10 bank globally in foreign exchange and we are looking to move into the top-five names. This requires us to continue hiring and investing in the FX arena, including exotic currencies, hybrids and prime brokerage activity. We are confident Mr Koutsaftis will play an integral part in this advancement.”
