Costa Rica-based Banco Nacional de Costa Rica (BNCR) has selected Hypercom, a provider of payment products and services, to deploy more than 13,000 Hypercom Optimum countertop and mobile payment terminals to merchants across Costa Rica.
Hypercom’s authorized distributor in Costa Rica Evertec Latin America will be distributing card payment terminals and merchant field services.
The terminals include the countertop T4210 (dial) and T4220 (Ethernet with dial) and mobile M4230 GPRS, M4240 Bluetooth and palm-sized M4100 Blade.
BNCR de Banca de Medios Electronicos de Pago director Jorge Bonilla Lorenzo said that Hypercom’s products address the specific needs of customers and will help improve substantially the merchant and consumer experience at the point of transaction.
Hypercom managing director for Mexico, Caribbean and Central America (MCCA) Samia Bounaira said that BNCR is one of the electronic payment leaders in Costa Rica, and their selection of Optimum is a major endorsement that recognizes the product’s competitive advantages and strengthens the firm’s footprint in Central America.
