Bigbank has selected Nets, a payment services firm of Nexi, to provide issuer processing and digital services, including virtual cards and mobile payment capabilities.

Under the partnership, Nets will support Bigbank’s core offering by providing issuer processing and advanced digital services through its advanced modular-based platform.

The services include tokenisation, access to Apple Pay and Google Pay, along with instant issuing with virtual cards and digital PIN.

The company is also expected to provide advanced card personalisation, customer services, and fraud and dispute services to the bank.

Nets said that its partnership with Bigbank would further extend its footprint across Europe.

Nets Estonia CEO Henrik Anker Jørgensen said: “We are very much looking forward to providing Bigbank with our modular and flexible processing platform, helping them in their journey to become the digital financial service provider of choice in their European markets.”

Bigbank is the Estonian state-owned bank, which is engaged in providing personalised financial products, including loans and deposits to European customers, for nearly three decades.

It delivers financial services to private and corporate customers in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden and Bulgaria, as a licensed credit institution.

Also, the bank offers cross-border deposit services in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria.

Bigbank CEO Martin Länts said: “As a frontrunner in the European payment service industry, Nets will help enable our customers to improve their lives through seamless financial services.

“The benefits of scale and international reach that Nets provides will be invaluable as we grow our digital services offering across Europe.”

Last month, Nets and Nexi have signed an agreement to combine their businesses to create a major European PayTech company with unique capabilities.
