Bank of Ireland Asset Management has announced the appointment of Brian Routledge as a senior equity portfolio manager, and Jimmy Furlong as head of product development, effective early 2007.

Mr Routledge has over 15 years’ investment experience, including an appointment as senior portfolio manager with Citigroup asset management in Stamford, Connecticut and two years as a senior equity analyst with Credit Suisse First Boston, New York. Prior to this, he served 11 years as a senior equity analyst with Prudential Securities in New York.

Mr Furlong will join Bank of Ireland Asset Management (BIAM) from AIBIM where he served as head of risk budgeting and was responsible for new product development. Prior to this appointment, he managed domestic and international equity and bond portfolios for AIBIM.

BIAM will see additional management changes, as Jane Neill, head of BIAM’s balanced product since 2004, is to leave the company at the end of 2006. Chris Johns, managing director of global research and chairman of BIAM’s asset allocation committee, will replace her for the foreseeable future, effective immediately.

Mick Sweeney, chief executive of BIAM, said: I am delighted that we continue to attract individuals of the caliber of Brian and Jimmy to our investment team, which is now 40 strong.
