Hypercom has announced that BBVA Bancomer, one of the major banks in Mexico, has selected and will deploy more than 13,000 Optimum T2100 countertop and M2100 Bluetooth-enabled mobile payment terminals.

Hypercom was selected for this multi-million dollar purchase in competition with other global payment providers. With the order, Bancomer BBVA has purchased more than 21,300 Optimum terminals. The high-security devices are enabling the bank to expand its credit and debit systems throughout Mexico.

Jaime Arroyo, managing director of Hypercom’s Caribbean and Central American operations, said: BBVA Bancomer is an influential member of Mexico’s banking leadership and a subsidiary of one of the largest financial groups in the Euro zone. Their repeated selection of Hypercom is a terrific endorsement that speaks to our products’ competitive advantages and strengthens our footprint in this important market.

Hypercom’s Optimum T2100 is a high-speed 32-bit device with an integrated EMV-compliant smart card reader, built-in printer, large memory to accommodate multiple applications, support for multiple languages and currencies, hand-over countertop design and graphical interface that guides customers through transactions with clear prompts.
