Barclays Wealth, the global wealth management division of Barclays, has appointed Urban Wilde as new managing director and chief risk officer for Asia Pacific. The appointment is effective from August 2, 2010.

Based in Singapore, Mr Wilde will be responsible for managing the coverage of risk issues across Asia Pacific, including providing independent oversight and assessment of the risk framework design, implementation and effectiveness.

Mr Wilde will oversee the operational risk and credit risk teams across the region, and will also be a member of the Barclays Wealth Asia Pacific management committee.

He will report functionally to Mark Cooke, chief risk officer at Barclays Wealth, and regionally to Didier von Daeniken, chief executive of Barclays Wealth Asia Pacific.

Previously, Mr Wilde was with UBS for more than 20 years. He has experience in credit risk functions across regions, including head of credit risk control for Americas, head of international credit risk management and for the period covering 2005 to 2009, chief credit officer Asia Pacific. Most recently, he was managing director, strategic projects with the risk team based in Zurich.
