Barclays Capital has appointed Vanessa Koo as new managing director of M&A to focus on Greater China and James Lim as managing director and head of real estate in Asia Pacific.

Ms Koo will provide M&A advice to clients, drawing on more than a decade of experience. Ms Koo joins Barclays Capital from Goldman Sachs, where she was most recently head of M&A for China. She joined Goldman Sachs in New York in 1998, before moving to Hong Kong in 2000.

Mr Lim will be responsible for investment banking coverage in the real estate sector across all products and countries in Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Barclays Capital, he was with BNP Paribas where he was head of real estate investment banking. Previously, he held a similar position with Lehman Brothers.

Matthew Ginsburg, head of investment banking in Asia Pacific at Barclays Capital, said: “Vanessa and James’ appointments are an important step in the continued expansion of our Asia Pacific investment banking platform, and we are pleased and excited to welcome them to the firm. Their extensive experience and successful track records will make them powerful additions to our team in Asia Pacific, and add significant value for our clients.”
